As part of Bill 46, the Health Statues Amendment Act, the Alberta government tabled amendments to the Health Professions Act , which included the regulation of the province’s Health Care Aides. The College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA) has agreed to take on development and management of the Alberta Health Care Aide Directory, PLARing, developing and managing a provincial HCA exam and revising program licenses for post secondary institutions.
This is ground-breaking and historical as it appears HCAs are being given the highest level of regulation- the same as nurses.
